Brew Review #22

Track Seven Hoppy Palm Pale Ale

Canned. No Date. ABV 5.7% IBUs 42

Color: Hazy, Amber, Gold, Two Finger Width Head

Smell: Citrus, Orange Peel, Little Guava

Taste: Grapefruit

Aftermath: Hop, Sweet

Experience: A tasty pale ale. It has been awhile since I have found a good pale ale. Thank you Track Seven! This beer was refreshing, juicy and tasty. I don’t have a lot to write about, this beer was just so damn good I want to drink more by the pool! Grade 4.9/5.

SLO Brew Wave Wrangler Session IPA

Canned. No Date. ABV 4.8% IBUs 45

Color: Gold, Apple Juice, Finger Width Head

Smell: Dank, Citrus

Taste: Sweet, Hoppy, Floral (light)

Aftermath: Hop Finish, Not Dry

Experience: This was my first beer from SLO Brew and it will not be my last. This beer had great flavor and perfect for the summer (especially here in Fresno). It had a lot of characteristics of a west coast IPA for a session with lower IBUs. I could drink this all day! I wish it was colder but that was my fault because I was so excited to try this beer. Grade 4.8/5.

Firestone (Walker) Luponic Distortion #006 (IPA)

Canned on 6/21/17 (Today 7/6/17). ABV 5.9%

Color: Gold, Finger Width Head

Smell: Slight Dank, Skunk, Slight Mango, Cat Pee (???)

Taste: Hoppy, Earthy (Good)

Aftermath: Tropical Fruit, Stonefruit (Peaches), Bitterness, Dry

Experience: I have had all six batches now from this revolving IPA. As of now only batch one and six have been my favorite. Batch 2-5 have been good but I felt not too much had changed between batches to notice. Very refreshing but not a WOW factor, but a good IPA on a hot day (next 10 days will be 100+). Grade 4.2/5.

Brew Review #9

House of Pendragon Iron Patriot New England DIPA

Growler (filled 7/4/17, the first day released). Special Release. ABV 8%

Color: Hazy, Pineapple Juice, No Head

Smell: Orange, Tangerine, Grapefruit, Citrus

Taste: Grapefruit, Tangerine, Pineapple, Juicy

Aftermath: Pineapple, Hoppy, Alcohol, Dry Mouth

Experience: I am just getting introduced to New England hazy style of IPAs and I am enjoying them! It also is a great style to introduce people to IPAs that are not huge on hops. They are juicy and refreshing. I want more juice bombs! But very unique to my pallet and I am enjoying trying different styles of IPAs.

Ballast Point Mango Even Keel Session IPA

Can. 17144 09:12 EK 102M (what does this mean?). ABV 3.8%

Color: Amber Red, Finger Width Head

Smell: Strong (before sniffing), Dank, Mango, Guava

Taste: Mango, Light Hops, Juice, Jolly Rancher

Aftermath: Bitterness (hops come out in the end), Sorbet (as it sat for a bit).

Experience: This beer had really good flavor but wish it had a little more hop in the front but finished very bitter which made up for it. It is a little low in the ABV game but I understand what this beer is made for and is perfect for a hot summer day by the pool. Grade 4/5.
